costumiA Frascineto (Frasnita in arbëreshë), piccolo borgo albanofono dell’area del Pollino, è possibile visitare il Museo delle icone e della tradizione bizantina, uno scrigno di tesori d’arte unico nel suo genere nel panorama calabrese. Basato su una collezione di oltre 500 pezzi  appartenuta  all’Archimandrita Paolo Lombardo di Roma, annovera tra i suoi elementi anche paramenti diaconali e sacerdotali, cuciti su modelli greci e russi negli anni ’30 e ’40 dal sarto Francesco Ferrari.

Il percorso museale si sviluppa sui tre piani dell’edificio: nel primo piano si introduce il visitatore al mondo bizantino, nel secondo è allestita l’esposizione delle icone, mentre al terzo piano si possono ammirare antiche icone in bronzo di origine russa e antichi arredi sacri e paramenti liturgici. Tra i tesori esposti  anche preziose edizione di libri liturgici del XVIII-XX secolo.

A completare il quadro espositivo anche un ricco medagliere. Si tratta di 280 medaglie celebrative di vari avvenimenti civili e religiosi (centenari, commemorazioni, beatificazioni, canonizzazioni, ecc.), di origine pontificia o della Zecca dello Stato, tutte corredate da un apparato didascalico relativo alla loro provenienza, storia e lavorazione.

Le icone, provenienti dalla Russia,  dalla Romania, dalla Bulgaria, dalla Serbia  e dalla Grecia, sono oltre 250 e risalgono fino al XVII secolo. Raggruppate per tematiche religiose,  alcune sono impreziosite da cornici e rivestimenti metallici (rize). Ci sono icone dipinte secondo la tecnica tradizionale (tempera e uovo) ed altre realizzate con tecnica mista (tempera-olio). Diversi anche i materiali, dal legno  allo smalto, dal bronzo alla tela.

Come è stato spiegato dai suoi promotori, “l’intento dell’istituzione non è solo espositivo ma anche informativo sulla funzione delle arti in rapporto al culto”. Funzione che può essere compresa attraverso il “percorso” esterno al museo, che consiste nella visita alla chiesa attigua dell’Assunta (sec. XVIII), alla chiesa di San Basilio  nella frazione di Ejanina ed alla chiesa di San Pietro (secc. X-Xl /XVII).costumi

Also on display, there is a number of precious editions of missals from the 18th-20th centuries.

A rich medal showcase completes the collection: it withholds 280 medals, celebrating civil and religious events (such as centenaries, memorial days, beatifications, canonizations etc.) and coined in the Vatican State or by the Polygraphic Institute. Each medal is complemented by an explanatory label containing information on their origin, history and manufacturing.

Coming from Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece, the icons are more than 250 date back up to the 17th century. Grouped by religious theme, some of them are enriched by frames and metal covers called rizas. Some of the icons were painted following the traditional technique (a mixture of eggs and tempera colours), whereas for others a mixed technique was employed (oil and tempera colours). The use of a wide range of materials, from wood and enamel to bronze and cloth, must also be acknowledged.

As its promoters have explained: “the purpose of this institution is not merely exhibitory, but also informative, as it illustrates the function of the arts in relation to cult”. Such function also becomes evident to visitors who decide to follow the itinerary outside the Museum, consisting of the visits to the nearby Church of the Assunta (18th century), the Church of Saint Basil in the hamlet of Ejanina and the Church of Saint Peter (10th-11th/14th centuries).costumi

Un riche médaillier complète l’exposition. Il s’agit de 280 médailles commémoratives de divers événements civils et religieux (centenaires, commémorations, béatifications, canonisations, etc), d’origine pontificale ou de la Monnaie nationale, toutes accompagnées de légendes relatives à leur provenance, à leur histoire et à leur élaboration.

Les icônes, provenant de Russie, de Roumanie, de Bulgarie, de Serbie et de Grèce, sont plus de 250 et remontent jusqu’au XVIIe siècle. Regroupées par thématiques religieuses, certaines sont rendues plus précieuses par des cadres ou des revêtements métalliques. Il y a aussi des icônes peintes selon la technique traditionnelle (détrempe et œuf) et d’autres réalisées selon une technique mixte (détrempe et huile). Les matériaux utilisés sont nombreux, du bois au vernis, du bronze à la toile.

Comme l’ont expliqué ses promoteurs, “l’intention de cette institution n’est pas seulement vouée à l’exposition, mais aussi à l’information sur la fonction des arts en rapport au culte”. Музей размещается на трех этажах: на первом этаже знакомит посетителей с византийским миром, на втором – выставка икон, в то время как на третьем этаже можно полюбоваться старыми бронзовыми иконами русского происхождения, антикварной мебелью и священными богослужебными облачениями. Среди сокровищ также ценные издания богослужебных книг XVIII-XX века.

Дополняет выставку богатая коллекция медалей. Это 280 памятных медалей различных гражданских и религиозных мероприятий (столетних празднований, беатификации, канонизации и т.д.), из папского или государственного монетного двора, все сопровождается дидактической информацией об их происхождении, истории и изготовления.

Иконы из России, Румынии, Болгарии, Сербии и Греции, более 250 и датируются семнадцатым веком. Сгруппированные по религиозным темам, некоторые украшены орамками и металлических покрытиями (окладами). Есть иконы, написанные с использованием традиционной технологии (темпера и яйцо) и другие, сделанные со смешанной техникой (темпера-масло). Различные материалы от дерева до эмали, от бронзы до холста.

Как пояснили его учредители: “Цель учреждения музея не только выставочная, но и информационная о функции искусства по отношению к культу.” Функция, которая может быть понята через “путь” вне музея, который состоит из посещения соседнего храма Успения (XVIII в.), Церкви Сан-Базилио в селении Ейания и церкви Сан-Пьетро (Х XL / XVII вв.).
