Sunday, May 15th, at 5:30pm, on the charming terrace of the “Luigi Lilio” Museum will host the presentation of the book Cirò tra storia e cultura (Cirò between history and culture) written by Egidio Mezzi, well known and appreciated within the cultural circles of our country.
The book, says its author, “is a ride through the centuries in an attempt to reconstruct the ancient history of Cirò and the need to collect in an organic publication a set of essays already published many years ago in the magazine “Calabria letteraria” (literary Calabria), a cultural magazine published by publishers Rubettino and the website “Ciroaltra.it ” The author, without pretense and with a passion for the research and the difficulty of investigation with the lack of historical sources, rebuilt significant and emblematic glimpses into the life of our country starting from its origin, to present day.
The evening will include greetings from Cataldo Scarola, President of the cultural association “Le quattro porte” (The four-doors) and the Mayor of Cirò, Mario Caruso, to interact with the author of the book Professor Egidio Mezzi there will be a Medical Doctor and local history enthusiast Dr. Giuseppe Spatafora and Professor Giuseppe Virardi, school administrator and behind a large journalism productiono with a strong orientation towards local history and peasant culture. Moderating the meeting will be Anna Maria Santoro, Cultural Association Press “The four-doors.”
The event concludes with an aperitif and wine tasting of wines from the winery and vineyards of Scala and Senatore Vini.
