January 21st tour of Umbertine forts of Reggio Calabria

With the new year comes a new schedule of outdoor events to discover Calabria!

In fact, the 21st of January will be an opportunity to spend a entire day exploring the Umbertine forts of Reggio Calabria.

The trip, organized by Viaggi e Miraggi in collaboration with Open Lab and KalaCalabria will take us to visit the forts of Mateniti and Pentimele and will conclude at the fort of Arghillà, where today we find the magnificent Ecolandia technological park.

The program for January 21st, 2018

8.30 am gathering of participants in Piazza Independence (Reggio Calabria). Meeting with the guide and departure for the visit of the fortresses: Mateniti and Pentimele.

The fort areas of Reggio Calabria are a set of architectural structures – fortresses, castles, towers and bastions – of different ages that constitute what was a system of defense for the city and its historical territory, which at different times had needed, because of its geographic configuration, to use unique strategies to protect their territory.

After a visit to both forts, we will go to “Ecolandia” park where we will dedicate time to the palate with an “intercultural” buffet to enjoy a real “food experience.” In the afternoon will begin a visit to the Ecolandia park, and of the 4 thematic areas (ARIA, FUOCO, ACQUA, TERRA) entirely dedicated to the great myths of Magna Graecia and to practical ecology.

Return in the evening.
