On September 19 and 20, the National Archaeological Museum of Crotone will take part in the European Heritage Days, an initiative launched by the Council of Europe and the European Commission in 1991. As scheduled by the museum director Gregorio Aversa, two  guided tours will be available on the evening of September 19, at 8.30 and 10 p.m., aimed at offering a glimpse into the history of Crotone through the items on display at the museum.

The focus, as explained by Gregorio Aversa, will be on the ancient Greeks’ everyday life. The use of some implements and pieces of clothing from their time, as well as a few scarcely known details concerning their way of life, will be explained to visitors.

For the occasion, the price of entrance tickets will be reduced to one Euro. Besides the items that will be commented by Aversa, the collection on display at the museum includes archaeological findings of remarkable artistic significance and economic value, such as two bronze sirens or the more famous Treasure of the Goddess Hera Lacynia, which is kept on the first floor of the building.

The National Archaeological Museum of Crotone is located in via Risorgimento. For those who wish to know more about the initiative, the number to call is +39 096223082 or +39 0962.20179.
