Completing the regulatory and legal procedures for the organization of the famous Aspromonte hill climb by the Sports Commission of the Automobile Club Rc., the Province for its part, has already undertaken to restore the deteriorated areas of Sp7. It was not easy to undertake the long-lasting project, almost a year’s work, but the Aci of Reggio Calabria has managed, despite a thousand hurdles to re-form the essential organizational base in order to revive an event such as the historic hillclimb between Santo Stefano and Gambarie. A race that will be back on schedule over the weekend of June 24th to 26th, aiming to once again become a permanent appointment in the national panorama, after the extraordinary editions, over its sixty-year history. The Sports Commission ACI Reggio Calabria, coordinated by the Executive Vice President Salvatore Lipari, together with the Motor Team organizer Condina, has presented all the documentation signed and stamped by the various official bodies.
Through deliberations of the Aspromonte National Park Authority, with the inter-commission of the criminal police to the Special Regulations for Contest/Aci Sport and the authorization of local authorities with agreements by the medical and paramedical units: the complex puzzle of the Santo-Stefano-Gambarie race has finally been made official. Coordinator of all the hard work has been the director of ACI Rc Donatella Bolignano, who has shouldered a significant amount of the paperwork and was invaluable in getting the valuable release document needed, also from AC Ascoli, organizer of the famous stop of the Tricolor and the European Championship in hill climbing, the beautiful Paolino Teodori Cup, scheduled for the same date.
The President of the Province, Giuseppe Raffa, had already taken in recent weeks the clear commitment to restore the situation with the Provincial Road 7, former SS184, which these days will receive a partial remediation and asphalt to allow cars to race. By early fall, it is scheduled a more intense structural reassessment, already applied for. The first event for motor sports in the National Park is set for June 5th, with the noted slalom between Mannoli and Gambarie.
