Il regista bolognese Pupi Avati ha scelto la Calabria per il suo ultimo lavoro. Precisamente Rocca Imperiale, rigoglioso centro dell’Alto Ionio cosentino, dove ha portato avanti le riprese di una serie di film per la televisione ispirati ai brani del Vangelo. “Non si tratta -dice il regista- della semplice messa in scena dei passi evangelici, ma della loro attualizzazione: il Vangelo visto come un modello attuale, una lezione di vita per la società contemporanea”.
Il progetto, nella sua versione definitiva, consiste nel riprendere vari episodi del Vangelo per poter recuperare la sua essenza, che è la vicinanza con gli altri, quella che Papa Francesco definisce la Misericordia. Il primo di questa serie di film, intitolato le Nozze di Laura, è ispirato alle Nozze di Cana, ma, sia il contesto che i personaggi, rimandano ad una tematica molto attuale: quella dell’immigrazione. Così, mentre nelle Nozze di Cana, Gesù compie il miracolo di trasformare, appunto durante un banchetto, l’acqua in vino, nelle Nozze di Laura il miracolo è quello di fare incontrare, quindi avvicinare, due ragazzi molto diversi tra loro. Quella che il regista racconta è la storia di una ragazza calabrese, Laura appunto, non bella e con un padre che coltiva agrumi che la manda nella capitale con la speranza che qui possa trovare marito. Ed invece il destino gli aveva riservato ben altri accadimenti.
Proprio il giorno del suo compleanno Laura si regala un paio di scarpe leopardate e con tacco 12 per recarsi ad una rappresentazione teatrale al Pincio. Durante il percorso viene attratta dal forte odore che proviene da una lavanderia che si trova nelle vicinanze. Vi entra e comincia a dialogare col ragazzo che la gestisce, finendo per farci l’amore. Dopo qualche tempo scopre la triste sparizione del ragazzo e la dolcezza del suo stato di gravidanza.
Non può fare altro che ritornare a Rocca Imperiale dove il padre, venuto a conoscenza del suo stato, la punisce mandandola a lavorare nei suoi campi di limoni e arance. Ma è proprio qui che Laura conosce un bellissimo ragazzo africano, principe del Ciad, costretto dalle avversità della vita a venire in Calabria ed essere costretto a raccogliere arance e a vivere nel più squallido degrado.
Ma si sa, il Vangelo riserva sempre delle lieti novelle e a noi basterà aspettare per sapere cosa riserverà questo incontro in terra calabra.
Director Pupi Avati from Bologna chose Calabria for his last film. More precisely, Rocca Imperiale, a flourishing town in the province of Cosenza on the Jonian Coast, where he has recently shot a series of TV movies based on the Gospel. “My purpose – says Pupi Avati – was not the slavish representation of some episodes from the Gospel, but rather their adaptation to the present day: in other words, the four Gospels seen as topical frames of reference for today’s world, a school of life for contemporary society”
In its final version, the project can be regarded as a new take on the Gospel in order to retrieve its true essence, which is the feeling of being close to one another or, in Pope Francis’ words, the virtue of Mercy. Although “Le nozze di Laura” (Laura’s Wedding), the first film from this series, was inspired by the Marriage at Cana, both the depicted context and the characters reference a theme that is much more relevant to today’s world: immigration. In this perspective, the miracle performed by Jesus, that of turning water into wine during a wedding banquet, becomes the miracle of making two very different human beings meet ad get close to each other. The story told by Avati revolves around a not too pretty Calabrian girl, Laura, whose father – a citrus grower – sends her to the capital hoping that she will find herself an husband there. However, as she will find out, destiny had other plans in store for her.
On her birthday, Laura buys a pair of leopard print high heels which she intends to wear to go to an open air theatre production on the Pincian Hill. While she is on her way, she is enticed by a sharp smell coming from a nearby laundry. After entering it, she engages the laundry clerk in a conversation and ends up making love with him. Some time later, she finds herself face to face with the realization of his disappearance and the sweetness of her pregnancy.
She has no other option now but to go back to Rocca Imperiale, where her father, upon getting wind of her state, punishes her by sending her to work in his orange and citrus fields. And it is right in these orchards that Laura meets a handsome African boy, the prince of Ciad, whom the hardships of life have forced to come to Calabria to pick oranges and live in utmost shabbiness.
As everybody knows however, there is always something good in the Gospel in store for those who suffer, so all we need to do is wait to find out what the destiny of this Calabrian chance meeting will be.
Le réalisateur bolognais Pupi Avati a choisi la Calabre pour sa dernière œuvre. Plus précisément Rocca Imperiale, centre florissant de la province de Cosenza, où il a tourné une série de films pour la télévision inspirés des passages de l’Evangile. “Il ne s’agit pas – affirme le réalisateur – d’une simple mise en scène de passages de l’Evangile, mais de leur actualisation: l’Evangile vu comme un modèle actuel, une leçon de vie pour la société contemporaine”.
Le projet, dans sa version définitive, consiste à reprendre divers épisodes de l’Evangile pour pouvoir en extraire leur essence même qui est le fait d’être proche des autres, ce que le Pape François définit comme la Miséricorde. Le premier de cette série de films, intitulé les Noces de Laura, est inspiré des Noces de Cana, mais, aussi bien le contexte que les personnages renvoient à une thématique très actuelle : celle de l’immigration. Ainsi, alors que dans les Noces de Cana, Jésus réalise le miracle de transformer, durant le banquet, l’eau en vin, dans les Noces de Laura, le miracle est celui de faire rencontrer deux jeunes très différents. Le réalisateur raconte l’histoire d’une jeune fille calabraise, Laura justement, pas belle et ayant un père qui cultive les agrumes. Ce dernier l’envoie dans la capitale dans l’espoir qu’elle trouve un mari. Et, au contraire, le destin lui réserve bien d’autres aventures.
Le jour de son anniversaire, Laura s’offre une paire de chaussures léopard avec des talons de 12 cm pour se rendre à une représentation théâtrale au Pincio. Durant le trajet, elle est attirée par une odeur forte provenant d’un pressing se trouvant dans les alentours. Elle y entre et commence à parler avec le jeune homme qui le gère et finit par faire l’amour avec lui. Après quelques temps, elle découvre la triste disparition du jeune homme et attendre un heureux événement.
Elle doit donc rentrer à Rocca Imperiale où le père qui a appris son état, la punit en l’envoyant travailler dans ses plantations de citronniers et d’orangers. Et c’est justement là qu’elle rencontre un très bel Africain, prince du Ciad, contraint par les adversités de la vie à venir en Calabre, à cueillir les oranges et à vivre dans des conditions abominables.
Mais comme nous le savons, l’Evangile réserve toujours d’heureuses nouvelles et il nous suffira d’attendre pour savoir ce que réserve cette rencontre en terre calabraise.Болоньский режиссёр Пупи Авати выбрал Калабрию для своей последней работы. Проект, в окончательном варианте, это берёт различные эпизоды из Евангелия, чтобы восстановить его сущность, то есть близость с другими людьми, то, что Папа Франциск определяет как Милосердие. Первый из этого цикла фильмов под названием «Свадьба Лауры» вдохновлен браком Каны Галилейской, но и контекст и персонажи весьма актуальны: тема иммиграции. Таким образом, как в Свадьбе в Каны Иисус во время банкета совершил чудо превращения воды в вино, в браке Лоры чудо свершилось знакомствои и затем единением двух очень разных людей. Режиссер рассказывает историю девушки из Калабрии Лауры, не красавицы и с отцом, выращивающим цитрусовые, который посылает в её столицу в надежде на то, что здесь она сможет найти мужа. Но вместо этого судьба заготовила для неё другие события.
В день своего рождения Лаура дарит сама себе пару леопардового окраса туфель с каблуком и 12 см, чтобы пойти на спектакль в Пинчио. В пути она привлечена сильным запахом, исходящим из прачечной, которая расположена неподалеку. Входит и начинает разговор с парнем-управляющим и всё заканчивается сексом. Через некоторое время возлюбленный исчезает, а она обнаруживает, что беременна.
Ей ничего не остаётся, как вернуться в Рокка империале, где отец, узнав о её интересном положении, в наказание отправляет ее на работу на плантации лимонов и апельсинов. Но именно здесь Лаура знакомится с красивым африканским парнем – принцем Чада, вынужденым житейскими невзгодами приехать в Калабрию и собирать апельсины и жить в убогой деградации.
Но вы знаете, Евангелие всегда несёт радостную весть, и мы будем ждать, чтобы увидеть то, что сулит нам эта встреча на калабрийской земле.
