The boy-scouts from the Crotone section (Cngei) of the National unit of young Italian explorers, which includes the groups of Borgia and Crotone, have officially started their 2015/2016 year of activity with their participation in the 58th edition of Jamboree on the air and 19th edition of Jamboree on the internet. It is an official international event launched by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), aimed at encouraging scouts from all over the world to communicate with one another by means of shortwave radios and the internet. The JOTA-JOTI (this is the acronym of the initiative) co-occurs worldwide on the third October week-end, always involving more than 1 million participants. The radio and internet stations of Crotone Cngei were put up in Villa Condoleo (Scandale) on Oct. 17 and 18. The 70 boys from Crotone and Borgia managed to establish contacts with many different people from the far-flung corners of the world to discuss this year’s theme: that of environmental responsibility, namely how we can take care of Earth and what we can do to cut the environmental impact of our actions down to a minimum.
